Cookie Policy
Last updated: 3 April 2026
This Cookie Policy describes the types of cookies and similar technologies used by the website borgoitaliani.it (hereinafter "the Site"), in compliance with the Guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) of 10 June 2021.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites send to the user's browser, where they are stored and retransmitted to the same websites on subsequent visits. They can be used for different purposes: authentication, session monitoring, and storing preferences.
The Site is a static portal that does not require registration, does not manage user accounts, and does not carry out e-commerce activities.
Technical cookies (strictly necessary)
These cookies are essential for the proper functioning of the Site and do not require user consent pursuant to art. 122, paragraph 1, of the Italian Privacy Code. The Site is distributed through the Cloudflare CDN network, which may set technical cookies to ensure security and performance.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot management: distinguishes human traffic from automated traffic to protect the Site from attacks. | 30 minutes | Technical / Security |
__cflb | Cloudflare | Load balancing: ensures that subsequent requests are routed to the same server. | Session | Technical / Performance |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Records the completion of a security challenge to avoid repeating it on every page. | 30 minutes | Technical / Security |
The Site also uses the browser's sessionStorage to manage the internal search functionality. sessionStorage is not a cookie: data is automatically deleted when the tab is closed and is not transmitted to the server.
Third-party cookies
Individual borgo pages include an interactive map built with the open source Leaflet library, which loads map tiles from CARTO (Voyager basemap) and OpenStreetMap servers. Loading occurs only when the user scrolls down to the map section (lazy loading).
These services may set their own technical cookies when loading map tiles. These are functional cookies used for distributing cartographic images and are not used for profiling purposes.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tile server technical cookies | CARTO / OpenStreetMap | Distribution of map tiles for map display. | Variable | Technical / Functional |
For more information, please refer to the respective privacy policies:
Analytics cookies
The Site does not currently use analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics, Matomo, or equivalent tools). Should traffic analysis tools be introduced in the future, this page will be updated and, where required by law, a prior consent mechanism will be implemented.
Profiling cookies
The Site does not use profiling cookies. No data is collected to create user profiles, send personalised advertising, or share information with third parties for marketing purposes.
How to manage cookies
Users can manage their cookie preferences directly through their browser settings. Below are instructions for the most common browsers:
Disabling technical cookies may impair the correct display of some Site features, such as the interactive map.
Legal basis
Technical cookies are installed on the basis of the controller's legitimate interest in ensuring the functioning and security of the Site (art. 6, par. 1, let. f, GDPR). For any cookies that are not strictly necessary, the legal basis will be the user's consent (art. 6, par. 1, let. a, GDPR), collected through a dedicated banner.
Data controller
The data controller is the owner of the website borgoitaliani.it. For any request regarding cookies or personal data processing, please write to the address indicated on the Privacy page.
